There in the open field

There in the open field I can see for miles.
From the tree line to the horizon nothing but clouds, the silence
And you and me.
You said you can almost smell the rain.
No sooner than that the rain started to fall.
You get excited and start dancing around, not caring if you
Get wet or sick from the rain.
The air was warm and the fat drops had a warm feeling to them.
You were happy.
There you were in the middle of the field dancing in the rain.
There was a childlikeness to you that seemed to fill your eyes.
I can almost feel the love in your heart.

I can hear the silence that rolls in my head.
Echoes of moments that disappear after said.
Rumbles and unusually sounds that cover this blank
Canvas of night.
I reach for a cigarette but I forget I stopped smoking.
Fidgety is my thoughts.
Trying to reflect that which stirs deep with in my
Hollow shell.
