Leenhouts Garden

I can smell the garden on you.
I see your hands covered in dirt.
I see your shoulders are burnt from being in the garden all day.
You smell like wild flowers and top soil.
When I lean into you to see if you are sleeping
I can see that you are making love to the sofa and pillows that cress you.
I can hear you breathing deeply.
I sit there and watch you sleep in your sun dress.
You’re like a cat lying in the sun.
So at peace, so tranquil.
I see you had some crackers and cucumbers from the garden.
I take you plate and glass of half drank lemonade to the kitchen.
I bring you back some water for when you wake.
I look out the back window and look at all the work you did in the
Garden.
Sun flower, carrots, raspberry bushes, lettuce, and your
Favourite cucumbers.
I love looking at the big sunflowers
All the time you put into them.
I think I hear you waking up.
I go and watch you sleep and read my
Book.
I’ll wait and see you first open your eyes.
And I’ll tell you about smelling the garden on you.
